Counselor's Corner

Professional School Counselor

Dear Students and Parents,

At Woodmore Elementary School, our goal is to provide all of “our” students with a wealth of knowledge and materials to help them successfully navigate through their elementary school experience and life in general.

Statistics overwhelmingly show that parental involvement is the key to the overall success of children. Children whose parents are actively involved in their formal education undoubtedly have greater academic achievement. Additionally, children’s motivation for school increases when parents show an interest. When schools and parents work together, students benefit tremendously academically, socially, and emotionally. For those reasons, it is very important that we continue to work together as a team at the elementary school level as well. Believe it or not, elementary school students need their parents more than ever; whether they are willing to admit it or not ☺.

As your child’s Professional School Counselor, we follow the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards to deliver services across three domains: Academic Development, Career Development, and Personal/Social Development. Also, Professional School Counselors are advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement. If you should have any questions and/or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Together, we can only succeed!

Our desire is to help every child develop the necessary tools needed to meet the demands of an ever changing world. We want to ensure that all of “our” students are prepared with the knowledge and skills at the highest level as they develop into productive members of society.

Thanks for the opportunity to work with your children!

Sincerely,
Ms. Dobson
