Dear Students and Parents,
At Woodmore Elementary School, our goal is to provide all of “our” students with a wealth of knowledge and materials to help them successfully navigate through their elementary school experience and life in general.
Statistics overwhelmingly show that parental involvement is the key to the overall success of children. Children whose parents are actively involved in their formal education undoubtedly have greater academic achievement. Additionally, children’s motivation for school increases when parents show an interest. When schools and parents work together, students benefit tremendously academically, socially, and emotionally. For those reasons, it is very important that we continue to work together as a team at the elementary school level as well. Believe it or not, elementary school students need their parents more than ever; whether they are willing to admit it or not ☺.
As your child’s Professional School Counselor, we follow the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards to deliver services across three domains: Academic Development, Career Development, and Personal/Social Development. Also, Professional School Counselors are advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement. The mission of the Prince George's County Public Schools Office of School Counseling is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. School Counselors are professional school advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement and minimize achievement disparities among all groups of students. In partnership with educators, parents or guardians and the community, School Counselors facilitate individual and system change to ensure all students have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills at the highest level as productive members of society.
