August 2025,

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Rosaryville Elementary School! I am excited to begin another year of learning, leading, and growing alongside our amazing students, staff, and families.

We enter the new school year with a renewed focus on growth through our theme, “Ready, Set, Grow...with P.R.I.D.E.” At the heart of this theme is a shared belief in the power of growth and continuous improvement for everyone in our school community. At Rosaryville, we believe that every child has the potential to grow academically, socially, and emotionally when nurtured with high expectations, encouragement, and support.

Our theme is anchored in our Jaguar P.R.I.D.E. school-wide expectations, which shape our daily interactions and school culture:

  • P – Prepared to learn
  • R – Respect for self and others
  • I  – Improve daily
  • D – Demonstrate appropriate behavior at all times
  • E – Encourage and expect excellence

As we begin this new year, we are committed to helping every scholar develop perseverance, confidence, and a love of learning. We are equally committed to the professional growth of our staff, ensuring they have the tools and support needed to implement high-quality instruction and foster a positive school climate. Additionally, we look forward to strengthening our partnerships with families and the broader community, knowing that collaboration is key to every child’s success.

With your partnership, we will create an environment where students, staff, and families are not only ready to grow but empowered to thrive. As you prepare for opening day on August 26th, please review the important dates and announcements on the following page.

Sincerely,

Rashida Edwards, M.T., M.Ed.,

Principal

*10:00-11:00 AM - PREK & KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION: Students and parents will visit the classroom and meet the teacher to learn about the Pre-K/Kindergarten program. Families are welcome to drop off students’ school supplies.

*1:00-2:00 PM - NEW & RETURNING STUDENTS GRADES 1-5): CLASSROOM SNEAK-A-PEEK & SUPPLY DROP-OFF: Students are invited to take a brief sneak-peek at their classroom, meet their teacher, and drop off school supplies.

SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY: Rosaryville Elementary School is a mandatory uniform school. According to Board of Education policy, a complete uniform is required every day unless you receive a written communication home stating otherwise (spirit days, picture day). Please access the following LINK to view the RES mandatory uniform policy.

SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST: Rosaryville Elementary School scholars will utilize the following supplies (LINK) throughout the 2025-2026 school year. Parents who need assistance with purchasing supplies should contact our main office at (301) 599-2490.

CLASS DOJO: New parents will receive a request to join Class Dojo before the first day of school. Returning parents will remain connected to Class Dojo and are encouraged to turn on notification settings if they were silenced during the summer break. Please note that RES will use Class Dojo as the primary method of communication throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

FREE/REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS: Meal benefit applications are required to determine eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. Applications can be completed online at MySchoolApps.com. Online applications are processed within 48 hours. Students not eligible for free or reduced-priced meals must pay for their meals. Parents are encouraged to complete the lunch application to determine eligibility for meal benefits and other school-based programs.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL LOGISTICS:  Parents or guardians who are interested in "walking their child to class" on the first day of school should do so on August 25th during Orientation/Classroom Sneak-a-Peek. Parents and guardians will not be able to walk students to classrooms on August 26th due to parking limitations. We have attempted to accommodate this tradition in previous years, and as a parent of little ones, I completely understand the interest. Unfortunately, due to our parking lot capacity, this ritual creates a traffic gridlock that significantly inconveniences both parents and community members. Please know that RES has 68 staff members who will be strategically placed outside and inside to ensure that students arrive safely to their classrooms.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS: RES will host Back to School Night for grades PreK–2nd  on Tuesday, September 9th at 6:00 PM and grades 3-5 on Tuesday, September 16th at 6:00 PM.

CLASS ASSIGNMENTS: Teacher assignments will be available to view via Synergy ParentVUE (LINK) no later than August 18, 2025. If you are not yet connected to ParentVUE, we strongly encourage you to sign up to ensure you have access to important updates, student progress, and teacher communication. ParentVUE should be updated with the most current contact information for your family. This ensures you receive all school and district announcements.

TRANSPORTATION: Elementary school students residing one and one-half miles or more from their assigned school are eligible for transportation.
