- School Hours: 8:30 am - 3:10 pm
- Students must be in their 1st mod class by 8:30 a.m.
- School doors open @ 8:00 a.m.
- Breakfast is served between 8:00 - 8:20 a.m.
School Dismissal
- Car Riders and Walkers - 3:10 p.m.
- Bus Riders - 3:10 - 3:30 p.m.
Locker Time: Before 1st mod and before 5th mod
Attendance is taken in every class
- Absence Notes - A written explanation of each absence is required from the parent/guardian within 3 days of the student’s return to school.
- Students considered lawfully absent will have the opportunity to make up missed assignments (school or a class)
- Students who are considered unlawfully absent will not have the opportunity to make up missed assignments
Chronically Absent
A student is chronically absent if:
- They have been enrolled at least 10 days
- They miss 10% or more of school days
Example: Enrolled 30 days - Miss 3 days = Chronically absent
A student can be chronically absent at more than one school in the same year.
Habitually Truant
A student is habitually truant if:
- Enrolled 91 or more days
- Misses 20% or more of school days without a valid excuse
- This can happen in a marking period, semester, or school year

Lawful (Excused) Absences
A student’s absence is excused for the following reasons:
Family
- Death in the family (up to 4 days excused; more may be approved)
- Court summons
- Legal appointments (adoption, custody, visitation)
Health
- Illness (doctor’s note may be required after 3+ days)
- Medical appointments
- Mental Health Day (1 per semester - no doctor’s note required)
- Pregnancy, delivery, recovery, prenatal/postnatal appointments
- Caring for your child (doctor’s not may be required after 4 days)
- 10 excused days after the birth of a child
- Health exclusions (immunizations, contagious illness)
Lawful (Excused) Absences
Military Families
- Visiting a parent/guardian who is deployed, on leave, or returning from deployment (orders may be requested)
Other Approved Reasons
- Religious holidays
- School-sponsored activities
- Hazardous weather conditions
- State-declared emergency
- Suspension
- Lack of authorized transportation (not dure to discipline)
- Civic engagement (up to 3 days)
- College visits/interviews (up to 3 days)
- Other emergencies approved by the principal
Important Reminders
- Attendance matters - missing school adds up quickly
- Students are responsible for making up missed work.

Make Up Work for Lawful Absences
- Teachers will provide make up work within 48 hours of receiving an absence note.
- # of days to make up missed work will be equivalent to # of days of lawful absences.
- For all suspensions, students must be provided make-up work & assignments.
